A prayer for fertility please
Yep, I'm new around the chapel. I've never really been that much of a religious person, in the church sense of the word. I'm religious in my own way, with the world, with nature, with other folks. I'm sure that many of you can relate to that.
I've been a pretty singular person in this world, self reliant. I don't usually ask folks for much. I'm sure that many of you can relate to that.
I come asking for a little help. It's not much but it would mean a lot to me. My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for about three years now. We're still young (mid thirties) and the odds are still very good for us but so far we've had no luck. It has been very hard on my wife. We've had our hopes up a couple of times but still we're childless. We're working with a fertility specialist this month, having some tests done and having some medical intervention in the whole process.
I ask for a prayer for us. That our tests come back with good news and that soon we will be blessed. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you and God bless.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
I'll pray for you and your wife. It can be a tough wait, especially for wives who really want to have a baby. Hang in there. There have been several similar requests on the Angler's Chapel over the past couple of years. Some of those posters are now changing diapers.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
I too know what you are going through. I worked at it 10 years, the first marraige failed as a result. I've remarried and with more work, prayers, and positive thoughts we had a miracle baby boy. Won't get into the story, but it was unbelievable. God, how I am blessed now. I had all but given up hope. Finally I think we realized if we were REALLY meant to be parents, we would.
Guess we were. Amp, stay close with your wife, always offer strength and support to each other. You TWO are still the most important aspect of the marriage. Don't loose sight of that!! There are some great
docs, drugs, and all the prayer and thoughts from all who know you, plus a ton of Ifishers. I think this one will have a happy ending.
One day you'll be tossing out the cigars. Until then, enjoy the "work", and the free time you have to fish. When that kid comes you'll kmow what I mean.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
Hey Ampersat, I'll be praying for you guys as well. My wife and I went through this early in our marriage. She had two tubal pregnancies, resulting in 0 tubes. We adopted a baby after 20 years of marriage. She is thirteen now and one of the most wonderful things to ever happen in my life. I guess what I am bringing to this post is that even when things don't go as we plan, God has a plan !!!! I will pray for His perfect will in your lives.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
Ampersat,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I know what you are going through, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Through Gods grace and the miracles of modern medicine my wife and I brought home our first child on Dec. 22nd after 3 years of trying. He was truely the best X-mas gift we could have ever received. If you'd like to PM me I can tell you our experiance with the fertility clinic that we used here in PDX. Good luck and keep postive thoughts!

Re: A prayer for fertility please
What a joyous Christmas gift, 6wapiti6!! We're working with OHSU right now and hopefully it will go well. Our doctor was very nice and very forthright about what to expect from the process.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. The Lord will give us what we can handle when we can handle it.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
Ampersat,
I will pray for you and your wife--may God bless you two with a beautiful, healthy child.
If all else fails, adoption is of course another option.
We were blessed with the addition of our fourth through adoption (no--I got the best Christmas present on 12-27!!!).
Li'l Zeb is the apple of our eye (along with the other 3 ),
and was worth all the work and money in the world.
I have 2 children that are genetically mine, and 2 that are not. I can tell you from experience that there is exactly no difference in the love I feel for them--and I am sure that you would feel the same way if natural birth doesn't work out.
Good luck, and enjoy "practicing" until it all works out!!!
God Bless,
Charlie.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
I know how you feel and we will keep you in our prayers. I have two wonderful little boys from a previous marriage. I have gotten remarried and my new wife has no children. This was a big issue with us before marriage and a much discussed topic. I had a vasectomy with my first wife and we decided to try a reversal. So far we have not been blessed with good news and it is starting to bother her. Before marriage we decided if we were to have anymore children, it would be completly natural. She since has brought up thqt she would like to explore other methods. I'm am very fearful this is going to become a hardship on our marriage. I try to understand how she feels being in her 30's and having no children of her own. I wish the best to you and just remember it is in God's hands, thats what I keep telling myself.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
Took 5 years of trying before we had our first. 4 years later we had our second and then....7 years later we had our 3rd. A couple of devastating miscarriages mixed in there as well.
Relax, relax, relax. The more keyed up you get about it the harder it will be. My cousin is a prime example of this. Tried for many years then decided on adoption. Finalized the adoption of two wonderful Korean babies and guess what? Cousin found out she was preggers.
Let God and the doctors work the miracles. As stated by others be supportive of the wife and love her up.

Re: A prayer for fertility please
My prayers are with you...Just a little advice. Sometimes the stress of trying can have a huge impact. A good buddy of mine and his wife tried for 7 years to have a baby. They tried everything, and it really took a toll. When they finally took the attitude that it will happen when the time is right, and relaxed, it happened! God Bless...
