Default lining / flossing fish

What is all the comotion I hear about sometimes regarding people fishing with beads and long leaders up to 20 ft. or more ? I guess I've never seen it being done. Some call it lining or flossing ? Some say it is just snagging, others say most of their fish are hooked in the mouth.

do a search here. It is a subject that has been beaten to death. Most feel it is glorified snagging and some defend the practice because the fish are hooked in the mouth. There will be lots of info in a search.

Merry Christmas.

I read a Bill Herzog column in STS where he talked about leaders that long . . . something about how they would wrap a leader around a flat rock, let the weight fly and the twenty foot leader would unravel as the weight left. He was skeptical about it (as am I), but said something about the river they were doing it on how it wouldn't surprise him in the least.

In Oregon you can do whatever you want but in Washington flossing/ lining is illegal and is expressly written as such in the regulations.. "The fish must volentarily take the hooks into it's mouth." PERIOD NO wiggle room there!!
If you do it in Washington you are wrong regardless of what your concience or ethics tells you.. That's not my opinion thats the law!

Not saying anything more on the subject because what I have said is factually correct anyone who disagrees is factually wrong.

how exactly do you tell if someone is flossing? Some people like long leaders... 3-4 feet.

Here is my Christmas present to all of you: One locked snagging thread.

If anyone is really inteested in what people think of "flossing" they can search the archives. We have beaten this one to death!
