Willy Sturgeon Report 1/17 & Tacklebuster!
Took some buddies from work on the Big Willy yesterday. Launched at Cathedral, headed to Kelly Point. We tried "the plume" first, maybe a half mile down river. Water was 41 degrees and there were many fish marking on the fishfinder. No action, so we moved within a 1/4 mile of the Willy, still no action! Did a "drive by" at T6...looked really quite. Water there was 39 degrees!
It was time to head up the Willy and heed TB's advice! We pulled into 50' of water. The screen lit up and there was no "hole" there were fish all over the bottom!
50 shakers later we had a 43", 43", 45", and 47". It was an AWESOME day. Two of the guys had never been sturgeon fishing before, it was a blast to see them get into it. My buds brought along the grocery store, we just never had time to eat!
We chatted with "Fisher Price" on the VHF and convinced him to come share in the fun...looked like they were tying into them when we were leaving...good to meet those guys.
Tacklebuster, thanks for the advice you played a large role in us having a great day! Look forward to meeting the "Zen Master" some day.
