Default Kismet crosses Garibaldi Bar......

As John has been posting he and the family are in Tillamook for a few days for a little RnR and some crabbing. I got to get my first hand look at "Kismet" this morning as I too went in search of a few more x-mas sea spiders. I chatted with John briefly as I was on my way out and he was still baiting traps to get a little last minuet advice from a seasoned salty dog. So I get out and drop traps and while I am waiting I see Kismet on her way out to take a look at things. Then I watch as he just keeps as if he's going to cross the bar. Then he stops, I think quick and turn on the radio to check and see if he is going to do what I think he is going to do.........all I could catch on the radio was the coast guard wishing a good day and see him back soon. And then he was off. It was great I wanted to take pictures but of course the camera was here on the desk collecting dust. A little while later John returns to the bay with a big grin on his face and says 'All I wanted for Christmas was to cross the bar" ohhhhhh it was great. We then swaped a couple storries and went about checking our traps and harvesting fresh dungies. Pretty good day in the bay as I ended up with 11 and am not sure what John ended up with as I couldnt find him on my way back in. Thanks for the time today John it was great and I hope you guys have a great Holiday

What a nice day on the water!!!! The crabbing was best right at high slack with 9 in one pot.

We just had to go out over the bar. I called on 22A and asked about the restriction when I saw the blinking lights. '25 foot and under are restricted from crossing' was the reply. We then discussed the conditions and the particulars about our boat. Satisfied, the CG wished us well and off we went. They called back a minute or two later and asked when we planned to return.

"That depends" I replied. "If we drop crab gear it'll be a half hour, If we don't like it, I'll be back in 5."

I wanted to crab outside but the 8' swell was breaking pretty far from the beach and it was a little foggy. So we just did a lap around the red can and came back across. The bar was minimal on the flood tide and there was no wind. Just big rollers pretty far apart.

Russ go back to that spot I showed you and stick right through the high slack and you will score. Thanks for your company today. We'll see you down there again soon.

38 crab today and we left a dozen with our Queen over on the Kilchis. Hope she recovers soon.

Happy Christmas, Jennie, Bill and the boys.

Crossing the bar on Christmas Eve was a special treat! Once the fog lifted, it was about as beautiful as it gets on the Oregon Coast... and to think, December 24! To top it off I was so happy to hear that Jennie was home! We didn't expect to see her, just to drop some crabs off for Bill to make a special Christmas for Jennie and the boys... Sorry to hear about Bill's mom. Sounds like he has his hands full. One love out of the hospital and another in. :depressed:

I hope that it will be the happiest of Christmases for all!
