Okay, we're set on the dates (Jan 15-17), the general location (east of Christmas Valley), and the overall rules (laws, firearms, safety). Now we need to nail down some of the logistics.
Two major things come to mind: Food and lodging. Or maybe we should make that lodging first, then food.
Some of us have volunteered tents big enough to sleep several guys, and if we're counting on you to keep the frost off our noses, we need to know FOR SURE that you can make it and how many guys you can accomodate.
For example, my tent will sleep four, but I only have two cots, so a couple of the guys who stay with me would need their own air mattresses or cots. I can seat probably six around the table, although I've fed eleven in there before.
Bait O' Eggs (Roy) has offered to bring his tent, and has decided to spend a (precious) vacation day, so he will be over Thursday night or Friday AM with his camp, a 14 x 18 tent that will handle 4 cots.
Who else? Have you got a camp that will accomodate several guys, and if so, can you bring it? For sure?
Then there's food. We've got probably three choices. We can do it the simple way and just bring our own stuff to fix. Or we can pitch in X number of $$ and let a couple guys do the shopping/meal planning, then be responsible for feeding the camp, or we can each volunteer to take care of one or more meals during the hunt. And it doesn't have to be a meal in camp. It could even be lunches to take along for the day's hunt. I opt for the simple approach: bring your own.
One thing JD (TheTexan) suggested was to have some "community" grills/stoves available for cooking. No use everyone bringing camp stoves and utensils. We can see who's got what, and go from there.
If you've got a big tent to bring, let us know when you're going to be there and how many it will handle. If you've got food ideas, let us know so we can kick them around.
Just remember, simple is always better.
