Default Slider or fixed for Slinky's?

What do you prefer?

A sliding set-up with slinky's or not?

Why?

I don't care for the slider method.

I prefer a slider. I feel that if a fish pulls on the hook it won't feel the weight of the slinky.

I agree with cutt plug. All my luck has been with sliders.

It's the water, not the type of weight, that determines whether to go to the extra trouble of a slider. In faster water, your hook will be in the corner of the fish's mouth before you can even set the hook. In slower water, a slider helps you feel the bite.

Yeah, it's a bit more trouble and a nickel's worth of extra tackle, but then again it could mean the difference between getting a fish and not getting a fish.

I've fished with both and I have to say that I like the slider better. A steelie or salmon is finicky and like cutt plug said, if they feel that weight against them, they'll get rid of it sometimes quicker than you can set the hook! I also think you can feel the bite better with a slider, like Amp said. Just my .02

Slider for sure.
A cool trick to use and same some $ is to remove the snap section of a snap swivel from the barrell, use it for the slider and then use the barrell portion to tie your drift leader to.

sliding lead for drift fishing is bad. only when you bsck bounce should a slider be used. if the water had current and you are not constantly pulling on your line it will get away from your lead and get really messed up. If the water is too slow, use a bobber. if its fast the fish will grab it good and slider makes no difference.

Fixed especially when you are back feeding a drift.
