Successful Hot Shot colors
Anyone have a favorite color for winter chrome? Do you always change your hooks when you purchase them?

Re: Successful Hot Shot colors
My all time favorite Hot-Shot is the old color of mettalic green, very pale and in size #30. I have one left, and it is over 25 years old. It has not been in the water in 3 years, just afraid I will lose it. According to a person at Luhr Jensen, they are thinking about bringing this color back, sure hope so!!!

Re: Successful Hot Shot colors
I've got a couple of those old light metallic green hotshots as well and am afraid to put them on. Tied one on to my wife's line about 10 years ago and she had two nice steelies in the boat before the boat ramp was out of sight!

Metallics, darks, flourescents.
Pretty simple really. Pink, black, white, blue, and green. Purple is hot in fly circles, so I would think that it would have some applications.

Re: Successful Hot Shot colors
Gold/fire top worked for me in "steelhead green" water when I still had my drifter. Green pirate early in the season or tooty-fruity cop car later on, both of those worked best in clear water.
(Edit to include pic. of tooty-fruity cop car)
I replaced the hooks only after catching a few fish on them. Mainly due to me breaking them while atempting to return them to their proper shape.

Re: Successful Hot Shot colors
Just an FYI,
I was just at G.I. Joes on Cedar Hills and they had a basket full of hot shots for a buck each.

Re: Successful Hot Shot colors & warts & polly's
We are talking Hot Shots only...? If so, I like green pirate, silver w/orange back, straight green, solid metallic red
Now, what about warts and tadpolly's??? Warts = silver w/green herringbone, w/blue herringbone, w/orange herringbone, gold w/orange herringbone, green w/black back, silver w/orange back.
Tadpolly's silver w/orange herringbone, green, silver w/black head, silver w/orange head, silver w/chartruse herringbone
All these depend on the particular river and conditions on the specific day....
