Default Taged sturgeon

This weekend I caught a sturgeon that had a tag on it. I got the numbers off of it and I was woundering if there was a web site that I could cheak into some information about it. It was a nice fish about 48" (released) I tried to do the search method but I didn't come up with anything. Any info would be greatly apreciated.

Yellow tag or orange? Orange tags are WDFW and you can go to their webite to input the information. If it was a yellow tag (ODFW) PM me the info and I'll get the original tagging info to you.

Click here. That is the form for WDFW. Washington maintains the database for sturgeon tagged below Bonneville dam (Orange tags). Oregon maintains the database for sturgeon tagged above Bonneville Dam (Yellow tags).

I caught a tagged sturgeon on the Columbia this June and one of WDF employees took the tag and inspected the fish. I just recently received a letter from them with the history of the fish. I was impressed with the amount of data they had on the fish. Good luck with getting the info on your catch!

As lug pointed out, the department sends back great info on the fish. While I don't have any info on sturgion, as I haven't fished for them in forever, I've caught a lot of Steelhead on the Deschutes with these tags and after contacting the respective tagging agency with the info, I've always gotten a letter back giving me very specific details on the fish, like when tagged, stray or local fish, etc. Taking the time to send your catch info is a win win for both the dept and the fisherperson.
