Default Hey Gottafish

Noticed you changed your avatar to match your new bow. Nice.

Yea, I can't wait till next year!! My new checkmate falcon will be a awsome elk slayin stick. I got to get some good arrows yet. Recurves are so much more fun than my Mathews. That Mathews is no different than a rifle. it just got to boring to shoot. I cant wait to become a real bowhunter again. I told the wife I will be in training for at least a hour a day. lol She just shakes her head and thinks i'm nuts. She told me today she hopes I wont kill anything else because we can't afford to get anything mounted again, My cat is costing about 3200.oo bucks. Cheers Rich

What I mean is getting back to basics. no sights or wheels you know a bow the way it was ment to be. I have taken a lot of animals with a compound, its not challenging anymore. practice is boring whats the point, every shot go's right where you want it. With a recurve you have to be on top of your game. it takes a heck of alot of practice and skill to be effective. I am not knocking compounds. I have used them for a long time. Some people should never go to a recurve or long bow. They just don't have time to practice. I have already started getting ready for next year. and I think it will take me a year to get good at shooting this bow to be ethical to hunt with. No offence intended to any one else I just have reached a point in my hunting. that the hunt is more that the kill. if I never kill another animal it wont bother me. Have a nice day

I knew (or was quite sure I did) what you meant. I was just jerking your chain before someone flamed you. I hunted w/traditional equipment for 20 years before upgrading to modern equipment.

Traditional archery is indeed a different game, and taking game with a bare-bones setup is a more meaningful accomplishment (IMHO).

I'd like to one day go back, but I don't know that I'm willing to give up what I'm doing now. While I regularly took game with traditional gear, I also had a lot of bad experiences due directly to the difficulty of 'perfect' shot placement.

I commend your efforts and wish you nothing but the best.
