elk hunting trip
Well I just got home from the weekend elk hunting trip. We saw close to 100 elk in the 5 days that we were hunting/ camped and we saw 0 legal bulls..... Saw plenty spikes and calfs. But no legal bulls. I got really frusterated But maybe next season will be better because of all the Spikes we were seeing.......

Re: elk hunting trip
Bassin' - Ouch! You are pouring salt on our wounds. The rifle season ended yesterday and those 3pt or better bulls were legal anywhere but Yale, Toutle, Loowit and Margarit. I for one spent 6 days in the woods and never saw a legal elk (in 564, 556, 578, 588). Today's a sad day so I'd appreciate a little restraint OK?
Good luck to you with that smokepole.

Re: elk hunting trip
BH: No problem, I was really surprized to round the bend on a close logging road and see the 3 pt just standing there. If I had a gun I would never of seen one like that. About Mid morning in the same area down in some thick stuff I jumped the 4 pt. Small bodied and small rack. And I would not have been able to get a shot off on that one, but did get a good look.
I did see one other in the back of a pickup. I think they came from the 520 unit.

Re: elk hunting trip
Hey bassin good luck finding a cow... We found some bulls... TOC knows where. If you know where we got them last year then you know where we will get them this year... Spent the whole rifle season chasing them, but my buddy with a tag couldn't get a shot...

Re: elk hunting trip
Cade- My buddy with a tag and I were on the opposite end of the spectrum. We saw one elk, and it was a legal bull. My friend got pretty excited, so excited he couldn't get a stable shot. Oh well, it was fun!
Chris- I must be spending too much time on here if my name is popping up on threads I haven't posted on yet. Are you getting excited for your late season harvest...errr hunt? When Cade said 100 elk I figured he musta been in the vicinity you hunt  Hope you roll a trophy, you deserve it.

Re: elk hunting trip
I was elk hunting around Skamakowa hills. I was camped right next to the gate that stays closed. We always road our bikes in the roads and hunted the clear cuts for a while and saw most of my elk in the timber though...
