Default Hagg Lake report

Bank fished Hagg yesterday from sunrise until 2pm. Started out with Hula Popper and Buzz Bait around the handicap dock and Boat ramp C, then switched to Senkos. No bites the first two hours, so switched to spinners and caught 14 trout and a perch before noon. First time I've ever caught a perch on a Rooster Tail -- kinda surprised me. Went back to bass fishing with crankbaits and Senkos for an hour + and again -- no bites. :depressed:

Was disappointed in the bass fishing, but the trout made a tasty dinner.

That was exactly the same thing that happened to me last week. Went bass fishing and wasn't getting any bites. Saw trout jumping all around me so I switched to my favorite color in a Rooster Tail and caught some trout for dinner.

Tasted pretty good, huh?! I've just gotta learn to properly filet them so there aren't so many bones.

That bank is gonna be real nice and muddy after all this rain. I'm wondering if I'll be able to go back out there any more this year. :depressed:

Seems like the best bet is to get in a float tube and hang out about 40 feet from the dam. I was out on Saturday and fished from the bank... lots of small bass and perch, but I had trouble keeping them on the hook. There was a window of about 30 minutes during the afternoon where fish were turning all over the place. I had one nail a zara-pup, but I crackered that one as well...I think that it was a decent fish!

I think I will go back when they put some water back into the lake....

I was out at Hagg on the 14th fishing for crappie at my secret spot out in the middle of the lake. After 2 3/4hrs. of trying, I had caught one crappie and one bass. The bass just happened to be a 19 1/4" smallie with an attitude. Great fun on a crappie rig. I then went down to the dam and fished for bluegill. After the wind picked up I decided to troll the dam with a small Shad Rap. Got two largemouth and several trout.

Nah, I think that it may be all done up for bass until spawn next year... just have a feeling the water temp is gearing down for the winter steel run, but that is just a guess.

Drop me a line and let's do some fishing!
