Default Boat decision

I will be in the market for a boat in the near future FINALLY!

While I worked up in Alaska I had seen a lot of these boat working up there on the water. Not the same configuration but they are solid as a rock and the cost is lower because they are not hand cut panels. They use Marine Grade 5086 Aluminum 1/4 bottom and 3/16 sides.

What is the average material and thickness for all the other builders generaly?

It has a 14 degree pitch at the transom. I have the maker and web site for the builder in WA if anyone is interested in looking at it.

I am in the market for an all welded sled, however I do not want to pay out just to have a name on the side. From what the web site says these boats are used by many government agencies including the coast guard.

Any help here?

I would like the site info. also! Material is usually 5086 with some T6 6061 used for structural strength in key spots. The thickness on the bottom is usually 1/4" or 3/16" depending on the model and the manufacturer. Sides are usually 3/16".

DS- Cool boats! I'm not an expert, so I won't confuse you with opinions that I can't back up. I wish the site had prices though. Anyway, I think you can post the company name and let people find the site, you just can't post is as a link.

(Yee-Haw! I just noticed I'm a "Steelhead" now  )
