Default Friday Portland Sturgie Report

Vowed once again to fish new water and was rewarded with great results. The upside down tides this morning actually made for a great day. I found the sturgeon to be up out of the deeper slots and feeding all over the general river bottom especially on top of the shallower shelves that run next to the deeper slots.

As soon as the tide started to ebb the fish quickly moved back into the deeper slots. We pulled anchor and was back at the ramp by 12:30. For those of you planning on fishing in the morning, don't bother fishing the deep slots. Target water in the 40 to 45 foot range that run close to the deeper channels.

We also found the fish to be more aggressive hitting herring than anything else. Good luck tomorrow. You girls don't stand a chance next week in the challenge

What would be more productive the CR, the channel or the Willamette?I don't know any places to fish the Willamette in the area. Can anybody help?

blacktail 519- We have been launching at Cathedral Park and fishing upriver in the Big Willy. Main stem Columbia is too spoty right now due to the cold water. There are a lot of unfished productive areas up above the railroad bridge that holds a ton of fish. I have said too much already
