You will notice who got the first billing on the title,
What a wonderful day

It may have seemed like just a boat ride to you, but I was sucking up knowledge like a sponge

Watching the captain put the boat on the fuel dock better than most parallel park a car in the city was pretty cool in itself. Got to meet Sublime, and one of Popeyes generals at work, Wayne.
I arrived at the dock early after barely being able to sleep thinking of riding on such a fine vessel, we cast off and head to the fuel dock. Julie Rose 3 is a thirsty girl
This was my first boat trip with radar and that just went high on the want list. I always feel so alone when running in the fog, But But and a big But here, there were quite a few boats closer than I would have guessed by looking at the radar.
I brought my video camera along so I could try to get some footage to show the kids some of the sea life I typically get to see at sea. After running SW for a couple hours headed to Heceta we finally break out of the fog. Water doesnt have the good blue color, but it is clear and we start to fish. We find some dolphins who wanted to play a little

(I cant tell them apart to know if they porpoises or dolphins, so they all are dophins in my book

) I grab the camcorder and got some footage of the dophins, then we see an Orca off in the distance, thru out the day I managed to film, sharks, gray whales, orca, dophins, sun fish. I thought my kids would get a kick out of seeing the animals but my wife enjoyed it more than they did.

After watching the footage this morning my wife tells me she wants to go out and see it for herself.

I have only managed to get her to sea a couple times and she leaves a chum line behind the boat starting at the bar

She seemed determined to get over that so she could see the dolphins and whales for herself. The thought of her going out with me really makes me happy, or at least wanting to go out.

I cant make her want to go, but the footage sparked a fire in her I hope to keep burning.
The rocking motion on the big boat is hypnotic and made me really sleepy all day, on the way in I got a nap. Feeling secure enough to take a nap speaks volumes in the confidence of the captain.
Fish box came in empty, but Popeye wasnt looking for tuna, he has that far away glazed over look in his eye as he scans the horizon for a billfish
I got more from the trip than I can express with words, Thanks to Julie and Bruce for a great day.
