Default Ocean Salmon closure off the CR? Anyone know...

Trying to button up some plans for upcoming Labor Day weekend. Anyone know offhand when the ocean closure is going to be for the spark plug area? If the quota is not met by the 8/31, will they extend the season into September you think? I don't really want to be stuck inside fishing the bath water and will make alternate plans like Tuna or something of that nature down South if need be.

Thanks....

Not sure where the spark plug is, but you have until September 30th North of Falcon. The south of Falcon season will shut down 8/30 regardless of quota.

Tacklebuster,

Things are looking good for us that fish Zone 1 (CR to West Port). It appears that we will not reach quota before October. It has been a strange year with a lot of Natives and Small Chinook which has prevented many from not achiving their limits. Weather has been iffy as well with all the hot weather in the valley causing windy conditions at CR.

current catch quota is at 42% as of 08/15/04 so you should be OK for the long weekend.Fishers are getting fish "inside" but not with the same numbers per angler as the ocean. The big chinooks are showing up at the Hammond cleaning station with most guys saying that the bite turns on for a short while, usually the top and bottom of the tide change and as far up as the Megler bridge. However, gimme the ocean please, We had four doubles and very steady fishing for the four hours we were able to sneak outside. There was a small craft advisory in effect but no bar restrictions. Our eyes at Bouy 10 said go so we did! I am hoping the allowable catch goes up by then,as it did a couple of years ago
