Default Sturg at John Day boat ramp

I have the opportunity to go out of the John Day boat ramp near Astoria with Space tommorrow for some sturgeon fishing. Only problem is we only know how to anchor, fish and then move on if we have no luck. I'm not looking for any honey holes or anything like that, but anyone that could help us out in the least (North, East, etc) will win indulgences in heaven. If you are worried about broadcasting info, then send me a PM.
Thanks in advance
TB

From the ramp, hit the big river and take a right. Run upriver about 15 minutes and you will be on a series of flats about mid river. You will have to so some hunting but the sturgeon will be there awaiting the smelt arrival. When you find them, the fishing will be good. Fish depths between 10 and 18 feet. We did a couple of recon trips in December that yielded some nice keeper size fish.
