Default ODFW Budget Sources

While looking on the State Budget & Management Division website and in particular ODFW funding for 2003-2005, I found it curious that ODFW budget does not collect any revenue from Commercial Fishing licenses or fees. My question to anyone that may know is where do the funds the commercials pay go? (see pg.3 of pdf file) ODFW budget

I find it curious some think the commercial salmon fishery support the hatcherys so well when the entire commercial chinook salmon harvest only generated $3.5 million in landings revenue in 2000 according to NMFS fishery market news NMFS report

I think its time we get rid of the gillnets their time has came and gone. During the boom days of salmon fishing yes they did do much to support the hatcheries. But like many americans that have been displaced in these economic times, its time for them to find a new career. The current landing tax for them on landings revenue is 3.15% Man thats a pretty sweet deal wish I could only pay that. Their license fees are vessel-$75, Boat liscense-$200, Commercial fish lis.-$50. I wonder where ALL that money goes since it doesn't go into ODFW budget?

I think commercial fee revenues go into the general fund. If you have a copy of the state budget look under general fund - revenues.

our licsens fees and such also go into the general ,not directly to the hatcheries where it should go, thats why Oregon doesnt have money to pay and keep up the hatcheries and thats why they are raising the fee mount

I do not know about the comm. $$ where they go. I do know for a fact that our lic. and tag fees go direct to ODFW and not to the state general fund.

I think the commercial poundage fees do go into the General Fund...but then that same amount is passed back to ODFW as part of the 7% or 8% (last I heard) portion of ODFW's budget that comes from the General Fund. The commercial fee pass-thru total isn't a lot, relative to other funding sources...maybe 1% or 2% of ODFW's total budget. I don't know if that is how the fees are still handled or whether recent legislatures have changed the formula.
