Default Coastal College Chrome!!( Pictures)

Snuck away from school to the coast on 1-12 in the late afternoon and got these two bueaties in the a new water that I hadn't fished this year with a corkie, yarn, and shrimp using drift gear.

Here is the first one!!

Here is the second!!

Both together!!

Makes 29 landed in 12 trips to the same five miles of river.

Nice fish. It was great being in college cause I was also able to get out and fish during the week and miss all the crowds. I miss those days, oh well, I also don't miss being broke.

I too miss the days of skipping school just because the Siletz or Alsea were dropping into shape. Ah, the memories.

Nice fish Ty.

I have received alot of reterict about where am I fishing? How am I catchin so many fish? What am I doin different?

--First off I am not a very good steelhead fisherman, never have been.

--Second off I am very consistint: I know what works, I fish good water conditions, and I fish known steelhead lies and understand what kind of water to find them if the normal spots don't work.

--Third off I use great gear, not the most expeinsive, but quality hooks, line, floats, and a very effective weight system. I always use the least amout of wieght combined with the lightest weight that I can get away with. I use quality graphite rods and reels with great drags that are a breeze to cast. I always have pretied rigs and diversify slightly if the norm doesn't work. I tie my own everything and am always tryin to improve what I do through tech tips from Ifish and reading Salmon Trout Steelheader from cover to cover. I also try and talk to every fisherman that I run into and watch where people fish and how they catch fish when they have been successful.

--I also have had a alot of fishing experience and mentors that have taught me more than I could possibly remember. I live for fishing and always will. I live, breath, and eat any thing to do with all kinds of fishing and fisheries.

--Lastly I have a great intiution and have always been close to the right place at the right time. My gut always tells me the right thing weather I choose to listen or not is another thing.

I started my schooling a few years back at Clackamas Comm. College and was glad I moved out of the Valley. The reason is because I was sneaking away from classes to hit the clack/sandy and eagle creek.

I have a mirage of successes, as you do, and have to say that if I wouldn't have skipped my classes (heck winter and spring, summer classes) I would've not caught that 36 pound springer, and a few derby winning 17 pound steelhead out of the clack.

If I could hand out an award it would be to you for entertaning us with your photos. Needless to say you have me wantng to move back to Oregon......
