Re: sturgen in the wilson?
While unlikely, I believe it would be very possible that there could be a few sturgies which wander into the tidewater areas of the Wilson and Trask rivers. There's definitely plenty of them in T-bay itself.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
It's very possible. Do you know how far up stream it was?
Tillamook bay has good sturegon fishing. I caught a keeper size fish on a quick fish last fall in the Tillamook river above Memaloose boat ramp.
I saw a kid leaving a park in Wilsonvile last summer with a keeper.
So I would say it's very possible.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
Maybe I've heard wrong, but don't people fish the tidwater section of the Tillamook river for sturgeon? I don't see why one couldn't end up in the lower Wilson? I always thought seals and sea lions were found in saltwater, but the Columbia proved me wrong there

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
Although I'm not familiar with the Wilson river,I think they pretty much go where they want.I've seen sturgeon, although on the short side, caught out of the Toutle before on eggs, and personaly caught a shaker out of the southfork Chehalis all the way up around Boistfort on a nightcrawler before.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
I caught a sturegon in the Sanday River near the I 84 bridge. I'm sure they wander out of the Columbia, following smelt or other food attractants.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
I was anchored on the Barn hole on the Nehalem and watched a huge sturgy surface and do a belly smack not 3 ft from my boat.
The resulting wave rocked my boat

Not saying it couldn't happen, but with the river at current flows and plenty of eats in the bay.. I would take that bet any day!

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
Hello
On my first season fishing the hospital hole on the Trask I caught a shaker. Was suprised by the catch.
On a side note I also snagged a german shepard while casting. Not sure which suprised me the most.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
about 4 years ago i caught a 20" sturgeon bobber fishing just below the 101 bridge on the wilson. im sure there are a few sneaking around there, but im also sure there arent enough in there to make it a worth while chase. what do you suppose the likelyhood is that he caught the springer in the wilson and headed out to the corral or anywhere out in the bay to catch the sturgeon. its not a very far jaunt out into the bay from the wilson.

Re: sturgen in the wilson?
My brother in law told me about an oversize that got stuck in a mud hole on the Washougal after the floods of '96. Not exactly a place you would think of them being, but who knows.
