Last winter during one of the springer threads "Mr. Shannon O'Brian" asked if he could jump in with me on a springer trip.
He is from Oregon but now lives in Alaska. Said he was coming down "in the spring" and wanted to get out.
I figured spring, April, May...Bonneville, Willamette...I've got 4 seats, don't mind takin a boatles guy so what the heck...Sure Mr. Shannon, I'll take yah.
So time goes by, Springer season is epic, I kinda forget about him until about 3 weeks ago when he says he'll be here second week of June.
JUNE . Um, Mr. Shannon, it's kind of a low water year, the rivers heated quick and the tribs are pretty low and I ain't in the mood to row my driftboat, and frankly I'm a little burned out from a long season...but we'll see.
So we got a little shot of rain and a ray of hope.
We hit the water at the crack of 8:30 and were off by 3:00. Ended up landing 5 springers for 9 chances with the excellent help of the "Almost Tackle Tester" Jeff and my Willie boat that still doesn't get in any pictures.

It has been an epic year and I owe alot of thanks to my fishin buds Jeff, Gary, Steve, Jerry, James others (like my lovely and patient wife). I've had my sled on 9 different rivers this year and almost trippled my best year to date. Got to fish alot and learned a ton in the past couple of years. Got a lot of clean jars on the shelf. Ready to look to other pastimes.
Good luck to you Mr. Shannon. It was fun to get you out.
