'Lo all...
Well, after much procrastination, I've decided to finally post my newbie story. I'm looking forward to chatting/sharing/exchanging with you.
I've actually probably met quite a few of you before, since I was a fish checker at Hammond - Warrenton last summer. That experience is best described like a lot of people describe the army - I'm a better man for it but its not something I would want to do again. After all, isn't the Hammond boat ramp during a Saturday of Buoy 10 season kind of like a war zone anyway?

I still work for ODFW but now check the commercial ocean troll fishery here in Newport, which is a much nicer gig, though it does make you sick of looking at chinook. I'd much rather see 1 at the end of my line than 100 laying in a tote somewhere.
When I do get to get away for my own fishing, I'm mostly looking for steelhead or trout. I'm no expert, but I managed to put a few chromers on the table this winter. Being pretty new to Newport, I'm going to be checking out the Siletz quite a bit this summer. I'm pretty familiar with most of the north coast, having fished there most of my life. I also have put in quite a bit of time on the Mckenzie from my time in Eugene. I'd write some more but its already close to midnight and bed is calling.
Its nice to be here! I'm sure I'll be talking with many of you soon. Cheers!
Geoff
