Tying Corkies on below the hook
A buddy of mine that fishes up in Alaska says's its better to have the corkie below the hook. I also found some tackle in the sandy over the summer that had 3 corkies tied 18" apart with 3 hooks on the line, While I'll don't beleive this is illegal, but maybe unethical? I always just do it the normal way

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
You will get the same old answer on this ???. I don't see people fishing with corkies that way unless they are s*****g .

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
The only way I have seen that method is snagging. People do put a couple of corkies above the hook which is the way I fish.

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
While I agree that placing the corky below the hook is prime time snagging material, there is a modification that I have seen that does not enter this realm.
By tying your eggloops with a slightly longer tag (say 2-3") you can run a corky up the tag and follow with a small bead like for bobber stops. Tie a simple double overhand knot in the tag and trim the exceess. The result should have the corky laying right against the shank of the hook. (not below). The advantage with this is that the corky will always remain next to the hook, not above it or potentially sliding up the leader.
While I don't use this method, the end result places the corky in roughly the same place as bait on the hook or in the eggloop.

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
Called a fenton fly and wold work fine. Fish bite them too, just could result in short bites. Don't let all the snagafobics keep u from tryin it.

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
A WDFW 2004-2005 Rule Proposal!

WDFW PDF File
3. BUOYANT LURE RESTRICTION
PROPOSAL: This proposal would add the following restrictions to buoyant lures used in
waters with a non-buoyant lure restriction in place: Hooks must be attached to or below
but within 3 inches of the floating lure. No hook may be tied above the lure.
EXPLANATION: The non-buoyant lure restriction is used in areas where salmon
congregate and snagging is a problem. Allowing hooks above floating lures significantly
increases the likelihood of snagging, so this modification should make the rule more
effective.

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
Anyone remember when you could buy the pretied leaders with 2 okies tied to the hook shank below the hook. I think it may have been a Luhr Jensen product??
Fastwater,
Nice post. It's about time that went statewide

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
Is this just a proposal or is it a official rule for 04-05?

Re: Tying Corkies on below the hook
Mike - What's a cheater rig? I know what cheaters are but I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about.
Dan - Can't wait to see tickets fly off the pad on the NFL next fall.
