Re: Columbia River Fishng Report
Where you fishing around lady island or the shore line, I have tried fishing but I usually don't catch anything. Help. I tried plastics this week around lady island and only caught one last tues. I tried close to shore and then go out alittle deeper. Maybe I was in the wrong area. I guess I don't have a clue. Wouldn't mind giving lessons would you???

Re: Columbia River Fishng Report
I wouldn't be much help as a teacher Dragonfly. I just started fishing for bass last year myself. I'm usually in the back of the boat and let the more experienced fisherman take me to the fish. As a courtesy to the person I'm fishing with, I don't disclose his fishing spots to others. That decision is left to him. If you want to find and keep a good experienced partner, that's a good way to start. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of really good teachers and I owe what success I have had to them.
If you would like to learn as I am doing, you might want to consider joining the Oregon Bass & Panfish Club. We have a great group of experienced warm water fishermen and women who are willing to share their experience with others. We welcome guests at our meetings which are held the fourth Tuesday of each month at the PGE Service Center, 3700 SE 17th Ave, Portland. Meetings start at 7:30 PM. Feel free to join us and see what we are about and if you do, ask someone to point out the club webmaster/treasurer and say hi.
Others on here can give you much better advice than I can, but look for things like current breaks, rocks and gravel, points and other changes in shoreline. Wingdams can be good spots too. Depth of fish are due to a lot of variables, but starting shallow and working out deeper is a good way to start. Hope this helps and if I have given some wrong advice, anyone please feel free to correct me.
The more I learn about this great sport the less I feel that I know.

Re: Columbia River Fishng Report
Yeah, I try to go to the bass and panfish club but because of my job I don't get to go to the meeting most of the time. Your right though I need to find someone to help me figure this stuff out or teach. Glad I have a boat to help me out. I think that is the half the battle. Now for the other half.LOL

Re: Columbia River Fishng Report
Having a boat is part of the battle, but the learning curve is much shorter if you have someone who is willing to share their experience with you. I have two boats, a 19' and a little 7 1/2' jon boat I build for small waters. I use them both to practice what I have learned and to discover what I haven't learned yet, which is considerable.
