Default Has anyone ever wanted to be an outdoor writer?

Has anyone ever wanted to be an outdoor writer?

I’ve seen quite a bit of photographic and writing talent on Ifish and thought a little information on how to turn your hobby into some extra money might be very interesting to some members.

Think NOWA!

The benefits of belonging to the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association (NOWA) are tremendous. We provide mentoring, association with 165 of the top writers in the Northwest and lots of help finding markets and learning to become a better photographer and/or writer.

For many years NOWA has required that members be established writers. But we recently added a new membership category for apprentice members The only requirement is that you are serious about becoming an outdoor writer.

This is the world best job with the world's worst pay, especially when you’re just starting out. But if you have the passion it is a very rewarding job.

NOWA’s 2005 convention is going to be in Oregon this year. If you’d like to “test the waters” with the minimum possible investment of time & money, Ifisher’s won’t find a better opportunity.

Here is a link to our web site.

http://nowa.ws/

Shoot me e-mail if you are interested.

We also have a membership category for industry related companies that want to be able to provide our membership with information on their products and services.

Here’s a link to some pictures from a recent trip to Hells Canyon, which by the way was free: http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...amp;uid=623942
PS: The Surgeon Bass Pics are from last week. The steelhead pics are from last fall.

After more than 17 years in the occupational safety and health field, and more than 30 years as an avid outdoorsman, I have often pondered the idea. However, what I have considered doing may be a bit off the beaten path. As recent as yesterday, I have considered starting writing articles pertaining to outdoor safety and health issues as they relate to hunting, fishing, boating, etc. In fact, I have considered posting pieces here on a monthly basis or so. Maybe I'll give it a run and look into NOWA as well.

I have been a member of NOWA for a couple years. Although I have not been to their conference, I hope to, each year! The members are great, and the authors of the newsletters offer some very helpful professional advice.
It is worth every penny that I have invested. I have gotten so many story ideas, and helpful tips.
Very, very good group.
Also, OWAA, (http://www.owaa.org) is a very good group, also! I do go to their conferences, and have met so many wonderful mentors and business associates!
I'll tell you, both groups are well worth the small investment you make, to be a part of their communities.
