Default willy Walleye

Does anyone fish for walleye on the willy below the falls. At what water temp do they start to bite? I caught a 17" off the tip of Ross Island a few years back but that's about it for me. Could use some help on time of year, ect. Thanks in advance

Default Re: willy Walleye

We have caught them in the MC. Never on the Willy( never tried) though.

They are on the spawn right now. So it will be slow for about a month or so. By mid June, they should be back into the swing of things, chasing crawler harness rigs and crankbaits trolled in less than 20' of water.

We have never jigged for them. But I have never found a big concentration of fish in one small place either. They seem to be spread out kinda everywhere. But I know in the big river, they do school up in pretty heavy numbers at times.

If I did find a pile of fish, I would jig for them. In the midwest( walleyes are about like the springer frenzy here) jigs catch the bulk of the fish. Which is a pretty strong endorsement.

Good Luck.

Mark and the dog.
