Off to the coast to ask the chinook what they think of my new 10wt.. Hopefully, they will reply with a head shake. Planning to toss some flies in the surf for perch saturday at Rockaway... anybody going to be out that way? lnf

Going east to visit the in-laws. (might stop off at the mouth of the Deschutes)
Give us a report on the coastal chinook and perch.

That sounds like a blast Lnf, I wished I had a bigger rod to come and join you. I heard the weather is going to be poor this weekend, does that have an affect on the fishing, or the mood?

Gorgeous day on the Trask... warm and sunny. Saw a couple salmon roll and lots of smolt practicing their acrobatics. Hopefully this new rain will bring some fish into the rivers. Decided to pack it in about 4:30 and take the 'shortcut' over the hills back to Forest Grove. After driving north along the North Fork Trask, then west, then south, then east, we dropped down onto the Nestucca River scenic byway in time to watch the sunset. Good thing my fishing partner filled up his gas tank before leaving. Beautiful country that Tillamook Forrest, too bad for all the ugly clearcuts in the McMinnville watershed... they paid a price for that one. lnf

Fished for an hour or so at low tide Saturday... no takers but a nice day to be standing in the ocean. Rinsed the salt off my gear, put it away and had a fun afternoon flying a kite with my son. In the evening I rented a kayak and paddled around the Nehelam Bay; at high tide lots of little channels opened up through the grass. Man I love the Oregon Coast. Any of you Ifishers fish the bay? I hear when the silvers are in you can troll for them from a kayak. lnf
