Spinners
Who here makes their own Spinners for springers? I have fished a half a dozen times now in some creeks for salmon with spinners and I am getting interested in making my own spinners. If anyone has any suggestions on making my own spinners for springers that would be great. Thanks

Re: Spinners
I have been making my own spinners for many years. There are many combinations of blades and bead colors that work very well. I have some definite favorites, and ones that seem to be time tested. It is very hard to beat a #4 Deep Cup Colorado Blade in brass, and green beads. It is very basic, but works well. I also have had good luck with a #5 Rainbow color blade with chartruse beads. Good Luck!!!

Re: Spinners
"Spinners". Wow, that is like asking if anyone knows anything about women. Baseball. Trucks. Life. The universe.
I think that about any color works. Nearly any design. Just hit them on the nose with it. For salmon where I troll spinners, the most popular choices seem to be rainbow blades or those with some green, white and/or red. I lean to red/white with red/green beads or gold with pink beads. The age-old favorite used to be the Lucky R blade, half/half nickel and gold or brass.
If you start making spinners seriously you will also become very close to your local bead and craft shops. You'll also start cruising Ebay for Swarovski rondelle crystals and other such stuff. It is a bit of a sickness. :depressed:
If you build it they will come.

Re: Spinners
For parts, I like ************** ( www.**************.net). They have a comprehensive catalog with all kinds of cool stuff. Plus, they're local (Monmouth, Or.) Happy hunting!

Re: Spinners
Brass blade and red beads. Second choice would be brass with green beads. I'll change over to a painted blade on cloudy days.

Re: Spinners
Although i'm more into the weighted casting spinners than the trolling type, I'd second the endorsement for Fisherman's Shack. Had good results with them myself, they're in-state, and the owner, Don, seems like a good advocate for fish and fishing in general and not just strictly in the business of trying to sell you stuff. I've also seen decent selections at places like Fisherman's Marine and Sportsman's Warehouse; they come in smaller packs so they cost more per unit, but it might be a good way to see what you're getting first and experiment some, then when you settle on what you like you can get better bulk deals via mail-order.

Re: Spinners
Im sorry I didnt make my self clear on this. I am mainly looking for casting spinners. Not so much trolling spinners.
But thanks for the info. I will be going to fishermans and sportsmans soon so I will check it out.
