Default Sturgeon Help?

Im taking a guy from work sturgeon fishing this weekend and he is having a buddy come over from Vale to go with us. Niether one of these guys have ever fished for sturgeon and i would like to give them a good trip. I have sturgeon fished a lot in the past but have not been out this year. i was just wondering where the most productive areas have been lately. Not asking for specifics just general areas. Any info would be appreciated.

If I were going out I'd get some fresh smelt, sandshrimp and some worms. If needed alittle of Marie's good scent. I would put in at Freds and hit the Channel a little and then start investigating the Kelly Point area

But I don't know shizznez from apple butter

I love shizznez!!!

From recent reports posted here I would focus in the Willamette between Portland and the Columbia

I would recommend Cathedral boat ramp. Coming from Albany, just go north on I5, take I405N, then US30 W. Make sure you stay on US30 - I think the middle lane(s) will keep ya on 30. Then look for the sign for St johns bridge, there will be stoplight with a left hand turn signal to go up to the bridge (you'll see the bridge from a distance as you approach it). Once you cross the bridge, take a left at the very first light. Then take another left when you see the sign for the boat ramp. This should take you right down to water.

I like Cathedral better than Fred's, because larger docks, larger ramp and more parking. And did I mention its free? (fred's is 5 bucks).

Try to put in next to the upriver dock. The ramp underwater extends further.

Gr16...thanks so much for the directions. I look forward to trying for those sturgeon up there! That's a big help to have information like you just gave me, cause it's sometimes intimidating when you want to try new areas to fish but don't know how to get there!!Thanks again...
