My New Boat!
I am so excited I am about to explode and I wanted to share with the rest of the class!
I have had people tell me that you really dont get the boat you want until you second boat. The first one is a learning experience. I loved my jet boat, she caught me a lot of fish and has got me there and back every time. But I really dont use her for how she was built. Only once did I take her up through the shallows and riffles of a river! It was fun but I prefer to fish the bigger water of the Columbia and after I got my first taste of some ocean fishing this year I wanted more and I think my new baby is going to do just fine!
Stevens Marine made me a heck of a deal and got me 5.5% financing. I cant say thanks enough to Daivd at the Tigard store for making this as simple and easy as he knew I wanted it to be. The boat is awesome but what really kept me with Alumaweld has been the great service I have had ever since I bought my first boat. Thanks a lot Stevens Marine! She needs a little work before she is ready but all systems should be a go for the Sturgeon Challenge!
If anyone is in the market for one of the best riding, shallow V, wind shield jet boats around that has every option under the sun AND knows how to catch a few fish, call David at Stevens Marine and ask him about the old 5-Cents ride!

Re: My New Boat!
Green Machine nope, twin 115 salt water series 4-strokes. They are mounted on outboard brakets. Stevens is going to weld an additional outboard bracket for the 15 horse kicker with an auto lift too!
She is 24'4" long and has a 10' beam I believe.

Re: My New Boat!
Nice Boat You might need a over width permit if it has a 10' beam I belive 8'6" is max on Interstate highways with out a permit I could Be wrong.

Re: My New Boat!
I knew when you posted earlier about checking new boats, you would be giving up the inboard jet (not needed and too much room wasted). I have the same feelings after owning one for my first boat, but I have two boats the other being an open guide jet which I believe fits that purpose really well. However, my next boat to replace the inboard sled with hardtop will be something similar to your new one, only maybe fiberglass. Very nice!

Hey 5 cents, I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you yet. Ahhhh, can we be friends  . That has got to be one of the nicest rides I've ever seen . Please post more pic's. Maybe from the offshore bracket looking in. Oh, and the transom too. List all the goodies. When I part ways with my Sea Dory I will step into something very close to what you have there. Hopefully just as pretty.

Even though I was poking fun at your first springer post, I sincerely hope it's all good and you'll have an open seat for me in that gem sometime. Enjoy the boat, and make sure to christen it properly with fish blood very soon.

Awesome ride, Nickle!
If you put that thing in at 5th street and fish the Sand Hole, you'll be able to charge admission!
If you ever want to take it up to one of my secret spots on the Tualatin, let me know. It could use a good brush cleaning.

Re: My New Boat!
Finally a boat I can truly appreciate. It's going to catch major fish and you can tow a big boarder like me. Was the rack on it or did you add it so ZAQ could see what it feels like to have your face pulled off (just like the fishes he bonks!)

Thing should do farly well with twin 115's. And you get the reliability of two motors.
How wide of bottom does it have?

Good idea with the twin Mercs. There is a fair chance one will fail and now you have a backup.

Re: My New Boat!
Not to be negative but didn't you look at Thunder Jet? I seen what I think is a much better boat than the alumaweld. Dual 225 22ft Thunderjet at the sportsman show. I'm not impressed with the alumawelds boats over all quality. As far as quality I liked the Motion Marine, Thunder Jet, Boice Jet and North River. By the way I don't own any of these boats...Mine 21ft Maxxum, which most Portlanders haven't heard of.

Re: My New Boat!
Way cool Shane, I bet the thing you'll enjoy the most is actually being able to use all the footage in that boat... no HUGE box in the back to fish around. Big or small..i know the feeling...You know...The bigger the boat .. the more the displacement of water... The fish can feel that..there just gonna swim around you  Nice ride 5-cents

Re: My New Boat!
Nice ride shane...
Doesn't look like a float tube to me. 3
This coming from the guy who encouraged me to sell my 21 foot boat for fly gear
I hope you bonk a few nookies for me, now that I've stopped my herring wrapping/ plunking days.
ps..MC is your haunt eh??? ...Hmmmm, that's where I was fishing the morning of my interview 1998....
Dig the twins, way to go!!!
Big fishies
