Default Team Helly Hansen Springers 3X (Pics)

Headed out to participate in the Ifish derby/flotilla this morning at "0-dark thirty." Last night we decided to launch the boat, and moore it overnight, as to not have to mess with crowds and the Camas or Marine Park launches... Can you say good decision? We were fishing by about six. Before we could get our rods out, the boat next us hooked a nice little nate. We started to cook some breakfast...

Mmmm, hash. Then suddenly my rod goes down, and I bring this little nate to the boat-

Can you say rude? Interrupting breakfast?! This poor little guy didn't fight too much, the middle siwash was hooked right in the corner of the mouth, but the rear treble was stuck in the top of his head . Anyway, we got the lines back out, finished breakfast, and about an hour goes by before my rod goes down again. This fish fought considerably more, but still ended next to the boat, high finner number 2!

Within the next half hour, my rod goes down one more time. Unfortunately, I handed this one off to ReelTrouble on a long-established two fish mercy rule... As luck would have it, it was the largest (roughly 16 lbs) and the only hatch of the day...

Lovely fish with lots of tug! That fish came at 10:30, and that concluded our action for the day!
Fish were caught in 22'-23' of water, government island area. Two were caught on a kwikfish basically like a fickle pickle, but with pink tail and tiger stripes, and the other on the cricket I believe!
We then ran down to Marine Park to load her back up, what a mess! Saw one Ifish sticker and another Ifish no snagging shirt at the launch, sorry I didn't get to saying hi, that was quiite the zoo there.
We might not be as apt as Team Carrot Milk, but we have a few years ahead of us to get it right! Here's one more pic... revealing new team name and outfits...

Ah- Team Big Sombrero! Tight lines to all, TOC.

Good job Eric! I told you that boat can catch salmon
Okay, maybe it's not the boat.
Bummer on the nates but the hatchery fish is a nice one!

Nice fish. There's nothing wrong with a "Striper".

Congratulations you guys!
Be sure and let a few fish get past you and down here towards Eugene. It's just killing me to see all these posts of springers up there.

Time Off- the boat does indeed catch springers, but apparently only on the rear starboard rod holder  Good thing I was in it!
