Default ??washington/oregon fishing license?

I have been searching the site to answer my question on my own but I am apparently helpless and lost!
What are the regulations concerning fishing the columbia and it's tribs with a Washington license? I know it used to be that to land in Ore. you needed an Ore. license but I thought that had been changed. Can you fish the Willamette or Multnomah with Wash. license? How do the regs read on this issue? Thanks!

Each state has it's own regulations. In general, the Columbia is covered by both states and as long as one has the proper licenses and tags, the point of launch doesn't matter. The tributaries are subject to the regulations of the state they are in. The Willamette and Multnomah Channel are in Oregon. The Cowlitz is Washington. There are a couple anomalies to be aware of. Sturgeon fishing in the gorge has different regulations depending on the state of licensure.

Well my understanding is you can fish the Columbia with either license, however to fish the tributaries of either state such as the Willamette (Ore.), or Cowlitz (Wash), you would need the license of that particular state.

I really don't want to buy another license if I don't have to, 45$ for a Washington and over 100$ for a Canadian already. Besided I would only use it a very few times a year, like 2 or 3. Now, if I thought it would get me more fish, that might change my mind. Thanks for the input though.

Probably doesn't apply to you, but if you have a non-resident license, you must land in the state you have the license for. Those of us from Idaho need to be aware of this when we hit the Columbia fisheries.

The answer is NO. you cannot fish Or, tribs with a Wa. license and vise versa but the Columbia is free range for either license..how about just getting a 1 dayer if needed. Wa. I belive is $8.00 and Or. is $12..
