Archery questions (poll)
How many people shoot with both eyes open? How many use carbon arrows? How many use a release?
I shoot a release, with both eyes open, and I shoot aluminum arrows.....Ross

Re: Archery questions (poll)
I will have to go out and shoot an arrow to tell you if I open both eyes or not. Never noticed before.

Re: Archery questions (poll)
Both eyes open, aluminum shafts, release. And I still can't hit the broad side of a barn!

Re: Archery questions (poll)
Interestingly, I do shoot with both eyes open, but I tend to 'weaken' my left eye. All the "pro's" will tell you to keep both eyes open and let your dominent eye lead. I've always struggled with this. My right eye is very dominent, but I still fight it.
At the State Indoor Tournament, I observed a couple of modifications to this rule. One fellow who wore glasses put a strip of 'scotch tape' across the left lens of his glasses. This apparently blurred his left eye, yet allowed him to keep his eye open. Another individual wore a patch on his left eye, I would suspect to allow him to keep the eye open but not interfere. Several folks, particalarly the freestyle folks, had small "blinders" on the bill of their hats that they'd flip down, blocking the view from their left eye.
Just some observations.......

Re: Archery questions (poll)
I've always closed my right eye(left eye dominate) I feel more comfortable that way, with A.D.D. you can't risk it with the other eye opened I guess.....I shoot carbon arrows, aluminum bend too much when they hit the trees and what not.....and yes I do use a release, I get a better grouping than I do when useing fingers...John

Re: Archery questions (poll)
I've got some wacky eye condition due to a surgery where I technically only see from one eye at a time. So I have both open, but I only see from the shooting side when shooting. Have to watch it to make sure I'm using that eye though, cause if I'm using the other, I can't line my arrow up right. I know, weird.
I shoot aluminums cause I'm too lazy to make my own woodies. I shoot a recurve, occassionally a longbow self-bow. Fingers with a tab. So far, I've never forgotten to pack my fingers on opening day either....

Re: Archery questions (poll)
I shoot right handed but am left eye dominant, so I close my left eye. Putting a piece of tape in the center of the left lens of your glasses is an old shotgun trick for left eye - right hand shooters, which works well.
