Re: Free tackle on the Wilson
Hey Steve...
You better know I hold the record for most gear in the trees...
Ask Hogback can attest to...That last day of my 2 week Mayhem set the all time record I think...
Motivated me so much that I went up north to buy all the birdie drifter I could fit into a bag...My wife still doesn't know what the damage was  If she found out well...you know...
Hope you open up that proverbial can of "Whoop A--" on em bud...
Will definately look for a report...
Tight lines from beautiful Boise...

Steve
As much as you like to bobber fish you should try jig fishing or even bait under a bobber. Kinda wondered why you left the steelhead alone when jiggen and bobberin with bait is just up your alley. Although all the pretty colors hanging from the trees does enhance the ambiance of the fishing experience.

Re: Free tackle on the Wilson
You know I really enjoyed my last trip to the Wilson, it was terrific, 13 drift riggins lost in 3 hours. man it just doesnt get any better than that. I wish every river had biting rootwads and rocks. I swear if I ever get one of those logs in Im going to punch it on the old tag.

Re: Free tackle on the Wilson
Yea, why not bobber and jig Steve? I bet if you do a little research here on i-fish you might be able to figure it out.
BTW, my last trip down the wilson I did not leave any free tackle on the trees or in the water. That's a record for me. I usually decorate the wilson for the holidays with corkies in every tree and behind every rock. Makes fishing more festive.

Re: Free tackle on the Wilson
I know of a particular small limb on a particular tree on the Trask that has three coveted Rainbow Birdies from last Sunday, all within an inch of each other.....and I kept swearing to myself after each one that I wouldn't let that happen again!

Re: Free tackle on the Wilson
Ya know, I will be doing some bobber and jig fishing, but once I have a bobber rod in my hand there will be no jigs in the trees, got my mo jo workin..... BTY, as of last spring I was no longer a steele bobber and jig virg!n. And, And, this just in, I hooked two and landed one chinook on bobber and jig this fall....... Way cool
Any requests on corkie or birdie colors... or how about a couple of copper wee warts on that new snag......

Yea Baby!
Have fun Steve, and I think if you're going with FM that you'll get your arms stretched more then a few times.

Free tackle on the Wilson
YES it's true. All you have to do is to show up late next week. Ya see, I'm gonna take my half of the clack along with FM and his half and actually go fishing for some slimerockets. Hopefully many of you are burned out and the river will not be too crowded. As my arms are not quite healed from Chinook season and I can tell you that I have only touched my winter slimerocket rods about 4 times in the last 10 years, there will be gear everywhere. Gonna take some of my old wee warts, hot-n-tots and birdy drifters as as my bud and steelheader slayer from Kentucky says "go open up a can of whup a$$ on them". So look for some nice plugs on most of the sumirdged branches and some nice birdies and corkies on most any old tree limb. Who knows I might even get my line stretched a few times. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awahile.....
