Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
Just got off the phone with a buddy. A friend of his was at the Willamette ramp today and a man had been hit by someone. Apparently he was hurt very seriously, perhaps even killed. Anyone have any more information on this?
C'mon people, let's all be a little bit more careful out there. This same guy almost got T-boned coming into the ramp by someone who wasn't paying attention to what they were doing. And if you're headed to Willamette Park this weekend, be prepared for an absolute zoo.

Jeez, and it's only April. Usually the insanity doesn't start there until late May when the fair-weather types crawl out of the woodwork.

Re: Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
Yes there was an accident today. It was an elderly woman. She should be fine. She walked behind a boat as it was being backed down to launch and fell after being hit by the motor. Contusions on her head and leg. Soreness on her left side.
Yes people, be careful, and for goodness sakes, don't walk behind a vehicle that is backing up. Especially a boat.

HI Safety Chain,
Good to meet you out there today. Somebody also pointed out about the crosswalk above the ramp area and how most people don't use it. It is always a shame to see someone get hurt like that.

Smiley,
Good to meet you and Skipper as well. I still do not know why she decided to walk behind a moving vehicle?
Did you do any good? we only got one take down, no stick.

Re: Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
I heard from someone on the water that she had been hit by the prop while the motor was on.

Re: Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
It's funny how stories like this change as they move along down the line. Thanks for the straight dope. It sounds like she'll recover just fine. My buddy will be glad to hear it. It's for this and several other reasons that we'll be fishing at another location tomorrow.

Re: Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
Smiley and Skipper, thanks for saying "hey" today! Good to meet you guys!
Safetychain -100% accurate. The lady was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Apparently walking (or running?) accross the boat ramp between docks just far enough below the crest of the downgrade to be hidden from sight. She apparently fell in the middle of the ramp whie the boat was backing down. There was no indication that the boat actually struck her.
She had minor injuries to her head, legs and torso. She was conscious and alert when transported by the EMTs. EMTs indicated that her injuries were not serious or life threatening.

Re: Accident at Willamette Park ramp Friday?
Hi safety chain and ORS,
Skippper was standing next to her when it happened and his guess was she was a aprox 60 year old lady.
We didn't get a bump out there or anything.Way to slow. Went out back today a Lipripper got a 25lb native we realesed without taking out of the water. Very slowwwww. See you guys out there again, I'm sure of it.
