The call of the Coyote
The rod folded over again like it had so many other times today, only before it had a silver or under size feeder king on the end. This time there was power. The graphite streigned and the line sang in the wind as the fish made a run for Japan. Soon it slowed and sulked as Jerome made head way, the fish seemed to come the the boat. But when it caught sight of the boat it was off to the races again. It sounded deep this time, taking the spool down to line that had never sean daylight.
After such a long fight I was starting to worry that the single, barbless hook might wear a hole in the jaw and send the hog to freedom.
Fifteen to twenty minutes later I slipped the net around Jarome's prize.
Being from Colorado he had never caught anything larger than a trout. To say the least Jarome was pumped! 29 pounds of chrome Up River Bright!

Like so many other chinook and silvers durring last weeks trips this king responded to the call of the Coyote. Luhr Jensen's Coyote is becoming a regular in my boat for ocean salmon. This week all our biggest chinook and silvers were caught on Coyotes.
I started using them one day when I was out and the bite was so good we were running out of bait so I put one on to stretch out the day and it was getting as many or more fish than the fresh bait.
The Blue/chrome has been my best in clear water and "wonder bread" was doing real well this week too. I've heard that the cop car and funky chicken were doing good a few weeks ago and chartruse is a good one in the river when the water is a little dirtier.
I've been running it on a five foot, 50# leader.
