Are you talking about the cost per license, or cost per contributing angler? For perspective, in 1993-4, the federal government bought out 83 Columbia River Gillnet licenses for an average of $22,000 in a program that retired 2790 licenses in Oregon, Washington and California.

Are you talking a one time payment, or yearly?

I'm talking about how much you would be willing to personally spend over and above you normal license fees as a one time amount to buy out the rest of the commercial nets on the Columbia.

A question that I know nothing about came to mind! How many nets can a commercial boat have?

Oh yeah, one more thing,"If a commercial boat sells his license, and sells his nets to a buddy, can he go set the nets for the buddy, and the owner of the license gets more nets in the water, and catches and splits with the buddy.

How also do they Police it?

I responded with $100 only because that's all I could afford. I would pay more if I could.

It is the only way we are going to see then end of nets in the CR. Support fish first as they are in favor of removing the nets in the CR they are the only group who will go after this issue, the others have proven they will not.
