Friday's red hot bite on Willamette
Riverkeeper, Rainrshine, and I braved the wind and rain on Friday and launched at Willamette Park at 0600 and trolled back and forth all day in varying depths. We used prawns and herring and could not keep the smolt off of our hooks. How in the world can a smolt attack something that is bigger than it? It was just one after another. Three quarters of them were finclipped too. Did an upstream hatchery just release a bunch of them? I'll bet we caught 25 of them. Has anyone else had that problem? Riverkeeper did manage a nice hatchery springer to the boat at 7:30am but after that it was a smolt show. Maybe he'll post a picture of it.
