Default Summer steelhead!

Today was a bit slow, we hooked three but only put one fish in the boat, but it was an early, 12# summer steelhead. It's not the first of the year, I've heard of about three from the Sandy and three from the Clack/Willamette but it's the earliest for my boat.

When I was talking about summers last year in February and March people asked me how I could tell the difference. Well, for one it had a adipose only clip, it was so blue back and chrome and it was a hen with a tight belly like a buck. I was about 98% sure it was a summer and then when I cleaned it (that's the one truest way of telling) it's skeins of eggs were the size up your finger and the body cavity was full of fat reserves.

With summers coming in this early that has got to be a sign of a good run of them coming up
