Were to fish
Were to fish, that is the question. Even though we've gotten a lot of rain there are going to be plenty of rivers to hit for steelhead, and for sure enough steelhead to make the trip worth while.
All the rivers shot up but with the low snow levels we are having they should hold, drop and clear all this week.
The Clack came up about 14 inches last night, it still had a dirty green color but with a rise like that I was sure fishing wasn't going to be too great. I was totally caught off guard too since it was clear and it never came up all day yesterday, and fishing was good too, we landed eight steelies. I canceled todays trip to be on the safe side, no use going for a boat ride.
The Clackamas and the Sandy should be fishing within a couple of days, they may be fishing now although they will be high.
I'd expect the smaller coastal streams to be fishing tommorrow or the next day and the larger ones like the Wilson to be in by the weekend.
And there is still going to be more fish to come. As we are now getting into the downward side of the hatchery bell curve we will start to see less hatchery fish but I'd expect them to mostly be hens. We will also be seeing a influx of Brood Stock fish to the river that receive these fish like the Siletz, Wilson and Clackamas. The Clackamas also gets late Eagle Creek bound hatchery fish through February.
This week will be a productive one, you may have to change tactics a bit but you will be rewarded
