Fish On!
Fished six out of the last nine days with varying success. Hooked a total of 37, landing 19. We hooked the majority of them drifting as well as some on jigs and plugs and one on a streight corkie. While drifting 2/3 of them were on eggs and the others on shrimp.
Fish hard, today we were the third boat on the water and the last one at the end of the day. Two of our fish came in late afternoon, one around 3:30 and the last right at 5 p.m. Yesterday the only two fish we hooked were at the end of the day in the last place we fished. Don't give up early.
A few interesting things from this week:
We got three more broodstock fish this week, looks like we should be getting a pretty good run of them this year.
We had two days that we lost two fish and that was our only chances and one day we landed 10 fish. You just never know what hand your going to get delt until you're out there fishing.
We caught at least six fish on our first casts into a new hole, I had three first cast fish my self.
Today one of our fish had a shrimp head in it's belly, like one somebody had pinched off to use just the tail on their hook. Over the years I've caught several fish with these heads in them. I've gotten to were I some times use the shrimp head as well as the tail.
If you are planning on fishing the Wilson this weekend plan on clearing water, a nasty east wind and lots and lots of boats.
I'm going to fish around home this weekend.
