Final fall chinook totals.
Well, almost final. There's still a chance of picking one up in the next two weeks While steelhead fishing. Last year this happened and we caught two between Christmas and New Years, the year before that we also caught two and lost one in that same time frame. Once we even caught one the 5th of February.
Any way, the fishing ended up doing pretty good. I started fishing fall chinook (I'm not counting Astoria) on the 11th of September and ended last week.
I fished a total of 37 days and put 73 fish in the boat. That's about a two fish per day average.
We caught them a large number of ways, trolling spinners or herring, bobber fishing, backbouncing and lots of them on Kwikfish.
Our best days were when we hit the rivers just right after a rain, oh I love those days! We also had one real good day bobber fishing that we landed eight.
And now it's steelhead fishing. Man I love catching those beauties! And it's going to be the year of years too!
