Just Perfict
The water color was just perfict today on the Wilson and there was fish for all...or most.
Congrats to John Thorn who was the only one with me today as we caught four chinook and lost another as well as catching the first winter steelhead of the season for my boat. Heck, after John was done having fun I even got to catch one of them.
John went home with a 6 1/2# steelhead and a 33# buck chinook with sea lice, just a tint of color but real nice shape. He also let go two bucks of about 12-15 pounds with just a shade of duskyness and I got to catch a 28 pound, purple back, snow belly, sea lice covered hen.
For me it was a Kwikfish day. All five chinook hooked as well as three other takedowns on Kwikies. The steelhead took corkie and yarn drift fished.
Other guides I know also scored well, Chris got three chinook and released a summer run and Lee's clients went home with four chinook and released another dark one. I saw numerous other chinook taken throughout the river and herd of about five other steelhead too. I also herd the Trask produced on bright chinook today.
Today was the classic example of high water, late season chinook season, fish on the move all day and not holding up in any particular spot.
As for tomorrow, if that storm hits it's all over.
