Default Springer Challenge Rules (Leveling The Field)

OK...

The rules proposed in the original post are being challenged heavily these days...

I want to make this challenge as fair and level for everyone so here are some suggestions.

1 - Total weight of fin clipped fish only will be allowed. It is against the law to remove native fish from the river and it is that simple...Actual weight is the only way the Sturgeon & Bass people measure their winners and this is the way it should be for our challenge.

2 - Only & I repeat only the Willamette, Columbia & Multonomah Channel are eligible rivers to fish for this challenge...This gives everyone the level playing field that will allow them to compete with those "ZIPPER LIP WASHINGTON RIVERS"... and yes...all of you know what I mean... C'mon...Lets see how all these "SuperStar Laden" Teams can fish on the "Big River"... Not everyone has a pump on their sled to go up these tributaries so lets make the competition fair for everyone...

OK...Anyone want to challenge these proposed rules...Bring it on...

I know who will complain and all I can say for you is...lets see how good you really are by agreeing to level the playing field...

Is there a limit to how many Fishing Guides a team can have in their boat or do they just cut their catch weight and length in half .
This should be a fun event and we will all have fun at the BBQ .

KHH...total weight of fish or total weight of fish divided by number of anglers? Just looking for clarification.

GRB...

Not my gig but just think it is the only right way to give everyone somewhat of a fair chance...There are many people on this board who want to see this and I as well feel this is as fair as it can get...

On 9 out of 10 days I for one can't compete on yours, Steves & Jeffs level but just as we saw last Sunday...Even Alabama-Birmingham can upset Kentucky on a given day and this really does level it on fair ground...

I appreciate everyone's support on this but want to hear a consensus on this issue one way or the other.

It is total weight of fish divided by the # of anglers per team...Once again...It levels the field if a team has 2-3 or 4 members that way...

What GunRodBow said.

Hathchery fish only(total weight/anglers), Big C, Willy or the Channel.

Seems easy enough.

Thanks KHH, we'll see everyone at the BBQ.

Sounds fine to me. I don't understand what all the hoopla was about. Not like your giving away a new NorthRiver or anything. It's just fishing....

KHH - Thanks for your work organizing this thing. I'm sure it's more of a committment than most people realize. I think it's gonna be a hoot !!

So we aren't going to give away a prize for the single largest fish caught?

Maybe I missed something, correct me if I am wrong.

You MUST have a prize category for the largets fish caught IMO.

What say you?

I'm in there with a team still to be announced.

Thanks for doin' the dirty work. Let me know if you need any help.

Terry, this is a very good idea.
UG. Being an old bank maggot myself, any bankie needing a ride to the island can get a ride with me. Within reason of course. I will get in touch with Terry and we will work something out, ie. phone and pickup times to get people without boats to the island.

How about Brad's taxi service. I mean it's an ugly green boat all that's needed is one of those lighted taxi lights on the cowling.

Set the rules Terry and everyone of us "good sports" will abide by them with no questions asked. Those that want to complete need not come. This is a friendly Challenge and get together so that we can meet fellow ifishers. If ya don't catch a fish who cares. It's a time for fellowship and friendship. Of course you can swap stories (lies) of the day and enjoy a great BBQ with other I-fishers too. I'm looking forward to the event.

BTW I am still looking for my first fish from that stinkin area.

Was the guts question answered? It would be nice to clean fish ASAP. I guess we could weigh a bag of guts for the total?

Just as HogBack has stated...We will not leave any Bank Anglers behind...

If you want to participate in this event from the bank...and would like a ride to the Island then we will make it happen...

Let us know who you are and we will make arrangements preferebly from St. Helens and bring you across...

I appreciate all the support...I spoke to Award Specialties in Hillsboro and I will go over there on Monday to get the Placques designed for the 1st place team and the Trophy for the big fish...I am getting primed for this event...

In addition, many people have brought up the point of being able to gut their fish prior to weigh in...

What does everyone think ...Should we gut the fish first then weigh them for the sake of keeping a better fish for the table... Comments Please...
