We finished the day with 13 nice silvers in the box, many of them 12 pounders. We also released two chinook and about five unclipped silvers.
We had a pretty interesting bout with a sea lion in the morning.
We just started trolling over by the "11" can when we hooked up with a double, both were chinook that took off different directions. One came off just as a huge sea lion grabbed the other and started peeling line. It went right under another boat and took out some of thier lines and wrapped around both thier motors. After that was taken care of the sea lion headed for another boat with down riggers, sure enough he took out those lines too and then my client was spooled. I had just put away the empty rod when I looked over and about twenty feet away was the end of the TUF line floating on the surface. We went over and got a hold of it and I tied it back onto the spool. We started reeling and felt some weight on the end. We got it all reeled back onto the spool and up comes our diver with the head of a 25 pound salmon! What a way to do catch and release!
It wasn't as good as yesterday but I tell you what, it's as good as it's going to get for Oregon. Yesterday all the guides I know got thier four fish per person limits yesterday and today they got them or close to it again.
