Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Well,
There has been a slight wrench thrown in our meeting place for the weigh-in for the 4/10 Springer challenge...
It will now be moved to Sand Island...
The Bass Club (Who is having a tourn on the same day) beat us to the Pavillion at Scappose Bay and have it reserved for the whole day so we have to do Plan "B"...
I understand that this has worked in the past so let me know your thoughts on this place because it is definately getting late in the game...

Fantastic!
Team Knucklebuster will be on the Water!
Dead slow around there yesterday. Saw 3 fish for a hundred boats.

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Hey Terry,
I have a really sweet 2'dia x 4' long polished stainless steel barrel BBQ that I built a few years back. I bet you could cook 8 or 10 salmon fillets at once on it. I've done 10 racks of ribs at a time, easy. It's kind of a bear to haul but I'd be glad to bring it along for the Springer Challenge, if I could find an open seat (hint, hint)

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Sand Island would have been my first pick anywayz.
We met up there last year and BBQ'd, there is plenty of table space for all for you Oregon boys to eat the fish your friends from across the river bring.
....DOH! maybe this should be on the smack thread!

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Thanks for the clarification Zaq, I haven't spent a whole lot of time on the CR.
KHH,
For the folks that are planning on fishing the Willamette, we'll have to take our boats out, and then put them back in at ST Helens(paying $$$) just to attend the shindig. How about somewhere a little more centrally located. I'd think you get a larger turnout if it was. Just my .02

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Sand Island --- Very easy to find. You can hit it with a 5-iron from St. Helens or the mouth of the Multnomah channel (end of Sauvies Island), straight across from the mouth of the Lewis (across the river to Warrior Rock, turn downstream to first island), etc. Easy put-ins from both Washington and Oregon. Excellent bank fishing, hoglining and trolling water in numerous places (mouth of the Lewis, Warrior Rock, Bachelor Island, Multnomah Channel, Picket Fence, etc.)

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
Too funny, LS
All Ifishers attending the Sand Island gig should be aware the entire length of the channel between Sand Island and St Helens is a 5 MPH - NO WAKE ZONE! The Sheriff is very strick about this. Hate to see fishin' cost you any more than it already does.
Thumper, Now you've gone and given away all of our secret spots.

Re: Change in Springer Challenge Weigh-In & BBQ Place
I also have a Texas Barrell BBQ smoker I could bring that would love to accept some of the "other side's fish", though it is used to Oregon fish , it ought to cook a warshington OK.
