Re: Thieves , Busted update
You got a revolving neon sign over that boat that says something like
"Loaded with expensive toys, help yourself!!"
I would have that house up for sale by this afternoon and be looking for a new neighborhood. Life is to short to have to set a camera up on your boat to keep an eye on it at night.
Shooting a neighbor in your boat will only get you jail time unless you dispose of the body in a crabpot and not get caught

Re: Thieves , Busted update
Theives usually hit on the wee hours of Monday morn (that's when it usually happens to me). Talk to your homeowners insurer and put an alarm on the boat. Don't set it too lite or cats will set it off. So sorry to hear about your loss, keep a dog outside near the boat helps, too. judyfish99

Re: Thieves , Busted update
Did you check with the police? I wonder if the previously busted perps were out on bail, and getting revenge. How well lighted is your parking area? Lights do a good job of preventing theft. The brighter the better.
I hope you find out who it was, and they get slammed. Hopefully your insurance folks are decent, and hook you up with a check so you don't miss too much springer fishing...

Man - this really sucks. Would be nice to garage your boat.
That's what I'm gonna do when I get mine... it's not that I don't trust people - I just don't trust people.

If you need a couple rods and reels to take your kid springer fishing this week I can surely loan you a couple, I have several rods that are all dusty just taking up space. Nothing fancy but surely would get a fish to the boat. Shoot me an email of you want to borrow a couple rod & reels for a while.

Re: Thieves , Busted update
I'd help too with gear. E-mail if you need any. Alternatively, if BOE's stuff is as nice as I think it might be, I'd be happy to come swap out my stuff for his.

Gottafish,
What could make you feel better than catching a springer with gear borrowed from some great guys? Take their offers. You and your son need the trip now more than ever.

Gottafish,
The only thing I have extra is a reel - you are welcome to take it - I don't need it back. I only hope you are your son catch a fish with it. I live kinda far away but let me know and its yours. Sorry to hear about the jerks getting your stuff.

Re: Thieves , Busted update
I think farmers Ins. is going to take care of me on my home owners. I'll know more tommarow, they have some adjuster looking up the gear I lost and she is goin to make me a offer, I don't know how much the'll give me or how long it will take for the check to get here. I am truely flattered by all your good will. You guys are the best Another thing that happen today . I thought was worth saying I went into fishermens to price some replacement items and was talking to the guys behind the counter telling them the delema, It was overheard by a gentalmen later we went to Mcdonalds across the street and this guy walked up and paid for our lunch. This restored my faith in humanity. He would not say No . during lunch he told me how he lost a kicker and all his tackle last year at this time. He new the pain. Fishermen are the best. Ifishermen are the best. Pease Rich

Re: Thieves , Busted update
I tell ya, it's posts like this that restore my faith in humanity. Some day, the jerks who ripped you off will get their due. If you can, some sort of inside storage is in order. If not, definitely an alarm system. Maybe something with a stun system. It would also be worthwhile to upgrade your camera system to something computer-based.

Re: Thieves , Busted update
Gottafish,,,, check the pawn shops in your area, thats where it will end up.
Lock it, light it up, alarm it, and clean as much stuff out of the boat as you can. A cheap cover might help also.
Sorry for your loss......

Re: Thieves , Busted update
I would suggest you post your stolen items in the section on ifish dedicated to that...and everyone can keep a lookout for such items in the want ads, garage sales, etc....never know when someone might get lucky.
I would be very happy to loan stuff to you, or take you out with my gear if you feel better about that. I am sure you could catch fish better with it than I can anyway, eh?
Send a pm if interested...

Re: Thieves , Busted update
my deepest sympathy for your loss, I have to say I am very happy to see everyone offering up something to get you back on the water and catching fish unfortuanetly all i could loan you is some sturgeon gear, but i am sure if we stocked your boat with some rods and electroics and a boat gaurd (man or dog) that would scare the holy c&$p outta someone

Re: Thieves , Busted update
Gottafish, pretty obvious who did it, eh? Take your tape to the construction site and play it for the guy those two work for. Get them fired and they have no legitimate reason to be in your neighborhood. They did not fall down enough times climbing out of your boat.
The offers to lend gear just validate what I already knew about all of you. Right on!

Re: Thieves , Busted update
The bad part is that this is going to continue happening until our judicial system starts to think like they should and start punishing thieves and the like to the full extent of the law. Instead they slap their hands or worse write them a citation for fifty bucks and let them go. It's hard to blame a thief when there is such a lack of enforcement of the law and they can get off scott free with breaking it and with all your stuff as well. If this was back in the day I'd say sit up one night with a good quiet huntin dog and a loaded shot gun.
"Justice for all and for all a good night".

Re: Thieves , Busted update
Man, that sucks. I hate hearing this like that. I have a lot of free time on my hands, I'll volunteer to sleep in your boat with my best friend, Glock, and wait for the slime balls to return
Hope your insurance claim goes through successfuly and quickly
