Default wilson

Fished the Wilson today with my son and friend Smoky. Great day on the river but cold. Man was I cold. Ok so I hate cold weather. I much prefer 100 to 30 but oh well. Todays report is we landed 4 fish 3 nooks all hens and 1 silver. Of course the silver went back. Nice to see the silvers making a return to the Wilson. Water was steelhead green and conditions seemed to be optimal with a 5-6' of water. Jordans fish went about 17. Smoky's fish went about 22 or so and chrome. Mine went 21 cleaned so I am guessing she was around 30# and kicked my butt, with sea lice fresh from the ocean. Thanks to Smoky for the drift trip !! Sorry no pics as my camera batteries seemed to be dead.

I saw several fish taken from behind the guide shop yesterday  in the 15 or so minutes that we watched the mayhem. nothing worse than watching someone try to bring in a fish and people on both sides of him continuing to make casts

I have never seen more people in my life fishing, as I have this weekend. I counted 35 trailers at Sollie, more at the Guide Shop, the Kilchis, both lots, were full! Bank anglers, Bill said, lined all of the bank holes on the Wilson, clear to the top! Elbow to elbow at the logging bridge.

WOW!

I wonder if there is a fish left, in Tillamook County!

Fished the Wilson on Saturday with half of the free world it seemed. Started at the guide shop, but it was nuts, so we headed upstream. Only managed to hook one fish at about mile marker 7. Came off after a minute or so.

Went to Josi's and fished for a while, saw a few winters and a handful of chinook, but went fishless myself. Most of the boats going by had fish. Tough day when the water looked so great and others were catching fish. At least I had a nice run to myself when the snow hit for 1/2 hour or so. Made a pretty picture even without the fish.

Hope everyone else did better....

Corkie Monster (great name by the way),

I think that is noville of you to move on. I pretty much have the same philosophy. When it is mobbed out I'll move on to less pressure areas. Granted you came up empty handed, but how fun is that to be crowded and deal with some fellas that seem to think they are on a stage for all to see.

That theory of moving away from the turmoil that's bound to occur has placed me in most all of my fish. I personally thank the sheep because they force me to ge to the sleeper.

Went down to the coast for a little while this afternoon, and was fortunate to land my first Winter Steelhead of the season. Not real large, maybe 6-8 lbs, but CHROME BRIGHT! Brightest winter steelhead I've ever caught.

I'd load a picture, if I could figure out how to do it. If anyone can tell me now to load a picture, I will..

Pete, if you read this, send me an EMail..

Way to go Ron! It was considerably less cold on the coast Sunday though and fishing wasn't bad either.

Great to hear about you, your son and friends catching fish Ron. Cold hits me harder every year. Bet Saturday was interesting with the river in shape, the pressure and obviously nice fish around. Sounds like Rag's post painted a good picture of the weekend drift boat challenges.

I enjoy everyone catching fish and to see pictures and stories of the trip or just read about it with no pictures, or just fishing. That does not exclude anybody, to clarify any possible past or present perceptions to the contrary.

Life is too short.

Catch and eat, I was referring to the mishap we had with our big fish. The camera was up at the beach house and we ended up with that ghetto picture. I have better pics of that fish on the way.
