Mary's Peak Pass...Alsea
Here's what the pass looked like this morning as I headed towards the Alsea. About 14" of snow with several cars off the side of the road. Only about 8 people fishing and saw two caught. Water looked pretty good, beautiful day though...
Happy new year!

That is SO beautiful!
I wish we had snow. :depressed:

1st hole below the bridge. But it is a terrible hole, almost never has fish in it, snaggy, impossible to fish and the rocks, boy are they ever slick.

Thats the only way I know of to catch fish, Paul. After the steelhead see me fall off the same rock 3 times and finally make it to land 30 yards downstream, all I have to do is is cast and let it drift into their open, laughing mouths.

Anybody hit the pass today? I am thinking hard about making the drive down so any info would be a big help...

Re: Mary's Peak Pass...Alsea
I fished over there retro today and caught one on an Okie Drifter. Then the next cast I lost the Okie. It wasn't worth it. I'd rather still have the Okie. The road was clear when I went home around 1:30, but snow is forecast for tonight. They have been doing a good job of plowing the road, but I would bring chains just in case, if you don't have 4wd.
