Well I think im finally ready to buy that new boat. Im getting a 16' hewes sportsman with a honda 50 fourstoke. Does anybody have this boat, and are you happy? Also what do you feel are the pros and cons? Thanks for any input you can give.

I have the SeaRunner, next size up from your 16. I have been very happy with the boat, Honda 90 and 8 hp kicker. Only down side was the prep from Clemons Marine when I bought it new in 99.

Tommy2915,

We have a Hewescraft owners page where you might find some helpful info(link on bottom of page) I can't speak much about the 16' Sportsman other than if you are not careful it will lead to a 20' Searunner.

I've had my 18' Searunner with a 90 Yamaha for a couple months now and all I can say is YIIIPPPPEEEEEEEEEE !
Love it, Love it Love it.
My only advice... steer clear of clemans.
You'll be really happy with your Hewes... just prepare your wife and family to be ignored for a while.

Was looking at a 2004 18" Sportsman the other day - nice boat. Was surprised how small the fish box was in the bow. The boat comes with 40 gal. fuel tank, two spring-loaded swivel seats on lockable boxes, and two small bench seats on lockable boxes, full top with drop side and back curtain. With a used [1999, supposedly low hours]
115 hp 2-stroke Merc prop engine the dealer wanted $14,220. With a new 115 hp 2-stroke Yami he wanted $18,550. Seemed like a fair deal on a good boat.

Don't know if you're interested, but I noticed that there's a '93 Hewescraft SeaRunner 16 on the cover of boattrader this week for a asking price of $8k.

Arima15Ryan,

No, I don't have access to the hard copy but do look at the boat trader on line and haven't seen that 16 footer on their website. While I am fishing by myself often, I still don't think that I want to go for less than 18 foot length.
