The only thing I know about its salmon run, is a few years back, so many salmon were returning, during low tide they were getting trapped in tide pools and not able to move up the river. I believe some serious law enforcement was called and, and I'm pretty sure the river and bay were actually closed to fishing for a short time.
Do a search for Yachats - I remember reading someone's post about it earlier this year...seems like it might of been Spoiled Daddy.
